Sun Table, 31" x 54" x 18"

Marianne Rohrlich, of The New York Times, writes the “Sun Table, a teak and stainless steel outdoor table, has solar-powered electrical outlets for devices like laptops, telephones, radios and lights. After sitting in the sunlight for four hours, the solar cells in the tabletop are fully charged; they can then generate power for four hours, or an evening’s worth of work or cocktails. At 31 by 54 inches, and 18 inches high, the table is big enough for a small crowd and is water resistant, so it can be left out in the rain. ”

The the table was created by Devang A. Shah and Mike Low of Brooklyn, New York. Each designer served complimentary roles in its creation. Devang brought vision and a focus on end users’ needs, while Mike was crucial in bringing the idea to reality. Ease of use and low impact were the guiding principles in its creation.

Detailed information about the table and the thinking behind it can be found at Sudia Design Labs.
